We will provide a virtual immortality for all pets.
In ancient times, people mummified their pets and had them buried along with themselves, so their pets could accompany them into the afterlife. If they had the Internet, they may have built a site like this.
Pet Colony with its Library of Pets began its voyage to the future and hopefully every pet that has graced the life of recent past, and future humans, will find its way to the Library . There, it will reside for ever, and it's owners or their descendants will be able to find it.
The purpose for this web site is to give back to the pets only a small token of appreciation for their life's purpose and to archive forever the pets of the world in one place. Think of how many pets die every day, think how much happiness' they brought in their short lives and how many children and people they touched. They teach us how to care for other creatures and for each other. They teach us about loyalty and being trustworthy. They do their part in making us better people. At the end, they go forgotten and there is no trace left behind of them for more than one generation or two.
Do you have a picture of your great grandfathers dog ? In 300 or 1000 years, people will be able to look back and see what pets lived in 2006, or in 1906(if anyone has any pictures from then, it would be great to see). There is no reason why the Library could not be kept online for that long, at least for an optimist. As for me, I'll be long gone, but the idea and the libraries could go on. There are billions of pets on the planet that deserve to be on here.
What is a Billion? If I were to post one picture every second, of every day, of every year, it would take me 31.7 Years to post a billion pictures. So you see, the chances are very slim that I or my children will actually even get close to a billion in my lifetime. But my grand kids might. :)
